This Queen Nanny Service Learning Ed-Venture is a 6/day 5/night service learning project that empowers you and your group to build upon the legacy of one of the worlds most renowned women, Queen Nanny, Leader of the Maroons.
Groups can select from one of several Volunteer Service Learning Projects in which to participate.
Haitian Women & Children Refugee in Jamaica
Jamaica's Beach Access Movement
Jamaica' Beach Party Constitution Development
The Maroons are an intregal part of Jamaican history and culture as they were the catalyst to the Slave rebellions throughout the island which ultimately led to Jamaica becoming one of the second country to free itself from English colonialism. The first being Haiti’s revolt against French rule.
During your 6/day 5/night service learning ed-venture, you’ll learn how the fierce warrior Queen-Nanny’s brilliant gorilla tactics defeated the powerful British Army, while you volunteer at local NGO's in Jamaica.
You'll also sample vine ripened fruits, delicious roadside foods, while sipping on rum and coconut water.
The Queen Nanny Service Learning Ed-Venture includes a guided tour to Jamaica’s historic sites and landmarks, visits to the crystal rivers and Blue Mountains, and a Hike among the mountains, caves, and landmarks used by the Maroons to defeat the British.
